Mon 3/4/06 - Julia can now clap when we do (when she feels like it) and make a good little noise.

Thu 6/4/06 - Mark caused a horrible accident and wrote off our car.

Sat 8/4/06 - TJ comes home and has chickenpox he has been taking occasional steps.

Week 3
Sun 9- Sat 15
Mon 10/4/06 - Took Julia on a swing for the first time which she enjoyed. I've noticed her claping her hands, but then clasping them tightly with fingers interlaced which looks so cute - sometimes it takes her a bit of concentration to get them apart again.

Tue 11/4/06 - Julia was up every 1 1/2 hour overnight and sniffly by morning. Took her to the beach, there were dogs there that she got so excited over - high shrieks and arms and legs going wild, like she does when she sees cats. Took a while for her to be happy to sit on her own in the sand. She couldn't crawl though as everytime she tried to crawl to get something, she'd have to put her hand down onto the slightly damp sand, and it stuck to her hand and she'd lift it in disgust and look at it suspiciously. She kept trying to lean forward to cawl without putting her hands down, but obviously couldn't manage and had to keep giving up. When I put her on the firmer sand near the sea, she crawled off to eat some seaweed. She was a little uneasy when I dunked her hands and feet into the ocean to clean them. We visited Granny at the library and Aunty Mon. I kept her awake nearly all day and she was SOOO tired she fell asleep by the time I'd reversed onto the road at aunty Mon's. Poor sick baby. By evening Mark was very sniffly with a sore throat and headache.

Wed 12/4/06 - Julia woke so often I lost count, finding it VERY difficult to breathe or feed. She was sad all day. Mark stayed home from work.

Week 4
Sun 16- Sat 22
Easter Sun 16/4/06 - Julia sees TJ for the first time in 5 weeks & crawls up to 'kiss' him. She will sometimes give you kisses if you 'ask' for them, making a kissing sound, she'll lean forward with her mouth open and soft and wait for the kiss. She stretches out her arm and rotates her hand as if to catch air, when she wants what you have. Everyone is a bit sick.

Tue 18/4/06 - She began pulling herself to a standing position on things, and then dancing around, stepping backwards and forwards, and lift a hand to wave. She has 'conversations' with me consisting of 'ah' or the blowing raspberry sounds. A 2 minute conversation often occurs with her saying 'ah' (a very curt ah, almost an 'I' sound) and then me repeating and then her repeating etc. etc. etc. and on & on & on.

Wed 19/4/06 - Julia's standing up on things means she's been pulling things like chairs on top of her - shame. She now claps a lot and waves to say hello or bye often. She's loving investigating the world and loves going outside. We've found the best way to get her to drink is through a bend straw, closely followed by our sports bottles. Her fancy cups give her hardly any water to a heap of sucking, and her bottles she just chews.

Thu 20/4/06 - Julia & my cold has progressed this week. 3 nights I've had to get her to sleep sitting up as otherwise she coughs continuously. She likes her muti though, and even in her sleep, sucks it out of the syringe as soon as she tastes it in her mouth.
She loves her food and is having about 2-3 meals a day. Porridge in the morning, a pear for lunch and then something for dinner, along with all sorts or whatever all day long. Constipation has been a bit of a problem for the past 6 weeks.

Fri 22/4/06 - Sun 23/4/06 - Tim, Amanda, TJ, Mark, Di & Julia go off to Fairbridge Folk Festival for the weekend. It's at an old orphanage farm school about 1 - 1 1/2 hours south of Perth. WE camped in tents and spent a lot of our time wandering around listening to the awesome music. both babies were sick though and not sleeping well, which made us very tired. If one woke and cried in the night (or day) the other would often join in in sympathy. I feel for our poor neighbours.

Sat 22/4/06 - Julia was feverish and lethargic all day, sleeping most of the day and hardly eating. Her right front tooth (her 6th tooth) came through.

Week 5
Sun 23 - Sat 29
Sun 23/4/06 - Julia was feverish and lethargic all day, sleeping most of the day and hardly eating again. After leaving fairbridge at 6pm we popped into Granny Darrell's and Grandpa PG's in Wanneroo for Julia to meet Great Granny Di & Great Grandpa Jim.

Mon 24/4/06 - Julia begins to get a rash on her tummy but her fever has finally gone.

Tue 25/4/06 - Julia's rash is all over her front and back now and she is very lethargic. We fear German measles, so take her into the hospital as today is ANZAC day, a public holiday and we have trouble getting a doctor's appointment. Princess Margaret Children's hospital check her carefully as there is a measles outbreak, but give her the all clear saying it's just a viral infection.

Fri 28/4/06 - We spend the day at Tranby House (built by some of the first settlers) on the banks of the Swan River. The nature walk is lovely, the tea house delicious, and the historic house furnished in the period, wonderful to browse.
